Beltelecom, China Telecom sign telecoms cooperation agreement

Belarusian state-owned national fixed and mobile operator Beltelecom and China Telecom BLR, a unit of China Telecom Group, have signed a telecommunications cooperation agreement to foster stronger ties between both countries, BelTa reports. The concord – which was inked following talks between Belarus’ First Deputy Communications and Informatization Minister Dmitry Shedko and China’s Deputy Industry and Information Technology Minister Liu Lihua – will expand cooperation between telcos in each country, specifically with a view to increasing the flow of mobile and internet traffic between China and Europe, developing international tariff (roaming) policies, increasing the equipment manufacturing in Belarus, attracting foreign investment and launching joint projects in the Belarus-China industrial park at Great Stone.
