Oi extends 100G OTN to Central-West Region

15 Jun 2017

Brazilian telecoms giant Oi has reportedly extended its 100G optical transport network (OTN) to 14 cities in the Central-West Region (Regiao Centro-Oeste), including the likes of Campo Grande, Porto Velho, Brasilia, Goiania, Cuiaba and Palmas. The rollout has added 18,000km of fibre to the telco’s existing 30,000km backbone, which connected major cities in the South Region (Regiao Sul), Southeast Region (Regiao Sudeste) and Northeast Region (Regiao Nordeste). The OTN was launched in November 2015, using infrastructure provided by Alcatel-Lucent (now part of Nokia).
