Telenet given green light to acquire Altice’s SFR Belgium, SFR Luxembourg units

13 Jun 2017

The Belgian Competition Authority (BCA) has approved Telenet’s acquisition of Altice subsidiaries SFR Belgium and SFR Luxembourg. As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, the EUR400 million (USD448 million) deal was agreed in December 2016, and will see Telenet take ownership of Coditel Brabant SPRL and its subsidiary Coditel S.a.r.l.. The BCA has approved the deal subject to the condition that Orange Belgium is provided with access to SFR’s cable network within four months of the transaction closing and at ‘wholesale prices comparable to those applicable in … Flanders’.

As a result of the acquisition Telenet will own additional fixed cable network in parts of Belgian capital Brussels and Wallonia, as well as in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The deal is expected to close within the coming days.
