Vodafone Germany has announced that a total of ten cities now have access to its 500Mbps LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) services, which it launched last month. In a press release, the mobile network operator (MNO) confirmed that the service can be utilised by customers in Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Dresden, Dortmund, Mannheim, Erfurt, Coswig, Cottbus, Moers and Remscheid.
As previously reported by CommsUpdate, Vodafone Germany introduced peak download speeds of up to 500Mbps over its LTE-A infrastructure in Dusseldorf in May, doing so by using tri-carrier aggregation (3C) technology in the 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz frequency bands. Looking ahead the MNO has said it aims to have extended connectivity to 15 cities by ‘summer’, with 30 locations to be within the network footprint by end-2017.
