Magyar Telekom to Flip the script in wireline market

18 May 2017

Hungarian incumbent Magyar Telekom has introduced a new basic, low-budget fixed line brand ‘Flip’, without landline loyalty obligations, aimed at subscribers who want simple, yet high quality, ‘unconstrained’ fixed network phone, internet or TV services. Available initially to around half a million households, the Flip/Flip 3 packages include the options of fixed internet (up to 100Mbps), 130 digital TV channels, Wi-Fi home routers and fixed telephony with free on-net calls, starting at HUF4,000 (USD14.30) per month with no minimum subscription term. The new brand has its own website (www.flip.hu), whilst the telco indicates that it will keep its overheads low through ‘cost-effective self-service solutions’.
