GO Telecom terminates its agreement with ZTE Corp

17 May 2017

Saudi-based operator Etihad Atheeb (GO Telecom) has terminated an agreement with Chinese equipment vendor ZTE Corporation. The telco said in a statement to the Saudi bourse (Tadawul) that it needs to build a new network infrastructure in order to provide mobile and landline services, following its bid for a unified concession. The termination will have no financial impact, the company noted. TeleGeography notes that GO Telecom inked a settlement agreement with ZTE Corporation in August 2016, under which the latter would waive SAR110 million (USD29.3 million) in receivables, while also providing the Saudi company with equipment to compensate for its non-compliance with a previously signed deal.
