TDS completes takeover of Sun Prairie Utilities telecoms assets

10 May 2017

TDS Telecommunications Corporation (TDS), a subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems, has confirmed that it has completed the purchase of the telecoms assets of Sun Prairie Utilities (SPU) in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. In February this year, TDS announced plans to acquire the SPU assets associated with the operation, transport, delivery, and support of telecoms services currently offered by the utility, including all customer agreements. TDS plans to immediately begin construction of a high speed fibre-optic network with a view to introducing 1Gbps download speeds to residents of Sun Prairie.

Jim Butman, Chief Operating Officer at TDS, commented: ‘We look forward to adding Sun Prairie to our list of communities served. The utility built a strong fibre broadband network and we are proud to take it to the next level.’
