TSTT purchases Massy for USD37.3m

3 May 2017

Massy Communications has announced that it has signed a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) with government-owned Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) for the sale of 100% of its shares. The announcement was made at a joint news conference between the two companies this week in Port of Spain, with TSTT disclosing that it will pay TTD255 million (USD37.3 million) for the complete acquisition of Massy Communications.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, the two locally-owned companies signed a network sharing collaboration deal in March 2017 and this partnership has escalated to a full takeover, meaning that TSTT will take on Massy’s fibre-optic network, adding a further 34,000 households in Diego Martin, Port of Spain, Trincity, Arima and San Fernando to its existing fibre-optic services. The deal is subject to regulatory approval from the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT).
