Cable ONE completes USD735m NewWave takeover

Phoenix, Arizona-based Cable ONE has completed its acquisition of rival cable operator NewWave Communications, which provides broadband, pay-TV and voice services to residential and business customers throughout non-urban areas of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Texas. NewWave was acquired from funds affiliated with GTCR, a leading private equity firm based in Chicago. The all-cash USD735 million takeover was originally announced on 18 January 2017.

The combination of Cable ONE and NewWave will see the enlarged company become the United States’ seventh largest cable operator by subscribers, serving more than 1.2 million primary service units (PSUs) in 21 states. Julie Laulis, President and CEO of Cable ONE, commented: ‘Our acquisition of NewWave is extremely positive for our customers, our associates and our shareholders’.
