The European Commission (EC) is embarking on a probe into potential anti-competitive behaviour in Sweden, in cooperation with the Swedish Competition Authority (Konkurrensverket), Global Telecoms Business writes. The two regulators have initiated ‘investigations’ of market leader Telia Sweden’s headquarters in Solna and the head offices of Telenor Sweden in Stockholm; further inspections will include the premises belonging to Hi3G Access Sweden (3) and Tele2. It’s understood that the commission made the decision to probe the cellcos following revelations that the quartet collectively generated around 96% of all mobile revenues in the Swedish market in 1H16. The officials are reportedly looking for any signs that the companies have engaged in anti-competitive practices to block competitors from entering the market.
