GTT to complete broadband upgrade in 3Q17

26 Apr 2017

Full service provider Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GTT) has hired General Datatech (GDT) to upgrade its broadband network, Demerara Waves reports. The operator did not divulge details of the development programme, which it said would be completed in Q3 2017, but warned customers that they could expect intermittent outages during the period.

Elaborating on the nature of the upgrade, GTT explained: ‘These investments will not only provide for faster and better services today, but will also allow GTT to easily manage aggressive traffic growth scenarios for many years to come. This system upgrade, coupled with GTT’s substantial undersea capacity, will facilitate a substantial improvement in broadband and data connectivity services through provision of faster speeds and more secure and reliable connections. These improvements will allow users of GTT services to experience all that the internet offers today and the possibilities of the future.’
