State-owned mobile provider Universal Mobile Systems (UMS), has installed more than 150 new base stations in the first three months of the year, UzDaily writes. Of the new sites, five were LTE-enabled and installed in Tashkent, whilst the remainder used 3G technology and were rolled out across rural areas and cities of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and the Namangan and Kashkadarya regions. Looking ahead, UMS says it plans for the near future include continuing the expansion of its 3G network, completing the modernisation its 2G network, and the launch of LTE services in all regional centres.
