Zeop to deploy a FTTH network in Trois-Bassins

6 Apr 2017

Daniel Pause, Mayor of the commune of Trois-Bassins in Reunion, and Xavier Hermesse, deputy director of fibre-optic broadband provider Zeop, have signed a partnership agreement to deploy a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in the area. Work is expected to begin by the end of this year, with residents able to access the internet before the end of 2019. Mr Pause was quoted by local news agency Megazap as saying: ‘Zeop is making a big effort by coming here, it’s not a good financial operation for them, we do not represent a huge market share, so it’s mainly Trois-Bassins that will benefit from the development.’

TeleGeography notes that Zeop, which launched services in Reunion in 2007, introduced its FTTH network in May 2013; the fibre-optic infrastructure currently passes over 100,000 premises in 14 towns, namely: Bras-Panon, L’Etang Sale, Le Tampon, La Plaine des Palmistes, Le Port, La Possession, Saint-Andre, Saint-Benoit, Saint-Joseph, Sainte-Marie, Saint-Paul, Saint-Pierre, Saint-Denis and Sainte-Suzanne.
