Nepal to implement per-second billing

4 Apr 2017

The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has ordered local cellcos to begin charging calls on a per-second basis from mid-October, in order to bring down the cost of mobile services for end users. Calls are currently charged in 20-second units, but this will drop to ten-second pulses from 14 April then to one second from 18 October. According to a report from the Himalayan Times, the pulse duration for national fixed line calls will remain at 60 seconds, though the pulse duration for international calling will fall to ten seconds from October.
