TelOne opens new data centres

27 Mar 2017

Zimbabwe’s state-owned fixed line operator TelOne has launched two new data centres incorporating colocation and cloud facilities in Harare and Mazoe. The new facility is part of the government’s wider National Broadband project, and has used around USD4 million of the USD98 million loan agreed with China’s Export Import Bank in December 2015. The construction of the new data centres was carried out in conjunction with Chinese vendor Huawei. TelOne says it is looking to shift its business model from that of landline provider to a converged mobile, broadband and cloud services provider.
