RCN extends DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit service to Massachusetts users

US cableco RCN Telecom has announced the immediate availability of 1Gbps broadband speeds to Massachusetts residents, via the deployment of DOCSIS 3.1 technology. Areas covered by RCN’s footprint are as follows: Allston, Arlington, Boston, Brighton, Brookline, Burlington, Charlestown, Dedham, Dorchester, Everett, Framingham, Hyde Park, Lexington, Milton, Natick, Needham, Newton, Roslindale, Somerville, Stoneham, Wakefield, Waltham, Watertown, West Roxbury and Woburn. According to RCN, pricing for residential Gigabit services starts at USD69.99 per month.

TeleGeography notes that the DOCSIS 3.1 service was previously made available in New York City (October 2016); Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington, DC (all November 2016); and Evanston, Illinois (February 2017).
