Brazilian telecoms giant Oi has reported total net revenues of BRL25.998 billion (USD8.410 billion) for the twelve months ended 31 December 2016, down 5.0% year-on-year from BRL27.354 billion. EBITDA for 2016 dropped 18.2% y-o-y to BRL6.377 billion, while Oi’s consolidated net loss for the period under review was reported at BRL7.121 billion, compared to BRL6.649 billion in 2015.
In operational terms, Oi reported a total of 63.554 million RGUs at 31 December 2016, down 9.3% from 70.048 million one year earlier. The bulk of the subscriber accounts – 39.870 million – were attributed to Oi’s ‘personal mobility’ unit, down 13.1% y-o-y. ‘Residential’ subscribers (including broadband, wireline and pay-TV) dropped 2.1% to 16.425 million on an annualised basis, while corporate customer numbers declined by 2.1% to 6.617 million.
