MTS 2016 revenue climbs 2.1% to USD7.6bn

Russian telecoms group Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has posted a 2.1% rise in annual revenue to RUB435.7 billion (USD7.6 billion) in 2016, of which Russia accounted for RUB400.6 billion (up 2.4%). Adjusted EBITDA shrank 4.4% in the year to RUB169.3 billion (of which Russia contributed RUB162.5 billion, down 1.5% compared to 2015). Full-year net profit attributable to shareholders decreased by 2.1% to RUB48.5 billion. Mobile subscriptions across the group climbed by 2.9% year-on-year to 109.9 million at end-December 2016, including 80.0 million in Russia (up 3.5%), 20.9 million in Ukraine (up 2.5%), 2.1 million in Armenia (down 1.1%), 1.7 million in Turkmenistan (up 2.6%) and 5.2 million in Belarus (down 1.9%).
