Telecom Argentina 2016 revenues jump 31.5%; net income up 16.8%

Buenos Aires-based Telecom Argentina has reported consolidated revenues of ARS53.240 billion (USD3.409 billion) for the twelve months ended 31 December 2016, representing a year-on-year increase of 31.5%. The lion’s share of the company’s top-line – ARS38.226 billion – was generated by mobile services, as operating income for the period under review jumped 25.9% to ARS7.843 billion, and net income attributable to Telecom Argentina grew by 16.8%, to ARS3.975 billion.

In operational terms, the telco reported a total of 19.511 million mobile users in its domestic market (-0.7% year-on-year), alongside 1.738 million broadband customers (-4.2% y-o-y) and 3.920 million wireline subscribers (-3.0% y-o-y). In addition, Telecom noted that its 4G LTE user base increased to 5.5 million by end-2016, with network coverage now available in 759 different locations, including all 23 provincial capitals and the Area Metropolitana de Buenos Aires (AMBA). Elsewhere, Telecom Argentina’s Paraguay-based subsidiary Nucleo (Telecom Personal) notched 2.538 million mobile subscribers at end-December, down 0.3% on an annualised basis.
