Ooredoo Qatar has launched 10Gbps fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services for ‘selected VIP’ customers in Doha, it revealed at Mobile World Congress (MWC) this week. Ooredoo – which last year upped its premium FTTH speed from 300Mbps to 1Gbps whilst claiming 99% household fibre broadband coverage of Qatar – added in the announcement that it will implement a wider commercial rollout of 10Gbps FTTH later this year. The new 10Gbps package will cost its limited initial user base a hefty QAR7,500 (USD2,058) per month (including – like all Ooredoo’s fibre broadband packages – landline voice and IPTV).
