Israeli mobile network operator (MNO) Cellcom has confirmed that a district court has dismissed a request for an interim injunction against the completion and execution of its network sharing and hosting agreement with Electra Consumer Products, which is set to acquire rival cellco Golan Telecom.
As previously reported by CommsUpdate, earlier this month it was revealed that 018 Xfone was seeking to prevent the completion and execution of the January 2017 agreement between Cellcom and Electra, claiming that the deal conflicted with a separate network sharing and hosting agreement it had struck with Cellcom in July 2016.
Now, however, Cellcom has confirmed that the request for an injunction has been dismissed at the request of the involved parties, after it and Xfone agreed in principle to make certain modifications to their July 2016 deal. As part of this revised agreement, it was noted that Cellcom will provide Xfone with ‘certain annual discounts for immaterial amounts’. The new agreement in principle between the pair is still subject to finalisation and negotiation of definitive documentation, while both this and the Cellcom/Electra deal will also require regulatory approval.
