Tigo Paraguay to cover 127 districts with 4G by end-2017

8 Feb 2017

Raul Ibanez, manager of Tigo Paraguay, has informed La Nacion that the mobile operator is in the process of extending its 4G LTE network to 96 new districts, as it seeks to cover a total of 127 of the country’s 247 districts by end-2017. The cellco, which switched on its 4G network in 20 cities in April 2016, claimed 300,000 LTE users at year-end. Going forward, Mr Ibanez confirmed Tigo’s intention to participate in this year’s planned 700MHz spectrum tender, noting that the frequencies are ‘crucial’ to Tigo’s expansion plans.
