Little deal on the Prairie: TDS exploring Sun Prairie Utilities takeover

8 Feb 2017

The management teams at TDS Telecommunications, a subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems, and Sun Prairie Utilities (SPU) in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin have signed a non-binding letter of intent (LoI) indicating TDS’ interest in acquiring all of the telecoms assets associated with the operation, transport, delivery, and support of SPU’s communications business, including all customer agreements. Drew Petersen, vice president of External Affairs and Communications at TDS, commented: ‘SPU has built a strong fibre broadband network and has worked hard to expand broadband capacity in Sun Prairie for its citizens. We plan to expand the network to launch 1Gbps broadband speeds.’ The two companies are committed to working toward the signing of a definitive agreement, and hope to conclude all steps by the end of March 2017.
