Entel Bolivia to launch fibre-based triple-play next month

Bolivia’s state-owned fixed and mobile operator Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (Entel) says it will launch its first fibre-based triple-play internet, telephony and TV services next month. The firm says its fibre network will offer download speeds of up to 50Mbps, and it expects to have passed around 250,000 homes with the technology by the end of this year, Telesemana reports. Entel invested USD312 million in full-year 2016, down from USD336 million the year before. It generated a profit of USD141.1 million on revenues of USD606.2 million.
