TT/Ooredoo kick off RAN sharing in Siliana

State-backed Tunisie Telecom (TT) and Ooredoo Tunisia have begun sharing their radio access network (RAN) in the governorate of Siliana, allowing both operators to minimise deployment and maintenance costs and improve quality of service (QoS) by reducing the duplication of infrastructure. TT’s CEO said the move followed the successful launch of RAN sharing in the governorate of Zaghouan, adding: ‘Tunisie Telecom is thus contributing the realisation of the Tunisie Digitale 2020 strategic plan, which aims to offer broadband services to all Tunisians in all regions of the country in order to guarantee social inclusion and strengthen digital culture, in addition to contributing to the strengthening of the green economy and sustainable development.’ The official went on to say that the RAN sharing project will provide 192 schools and colleges – as well as various other public institutions – across the region with high speed internet access, and improve indoor coverage for TT and Ooredoo customers.
