Iran’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, MTN Irancell, has begun marketing LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technology, The Financial Tribune reports. In October last year Irancell announced that it had carried out trials of LTE-A mobile data services which achieved peak download speeds of 1.2Gbps, with upload speeds reaching 66Mbps. The trials used two carriers in the 1800MHz band. Irancell is 49%-owned by MTN Group of South Africa.
