Ooredoo Maldives completes nationwide LTE-A rollout

19 Jan 2017

Ooredoo Maldives has completed the expansion of its ‘4G+’ network to all of the country’s inhabited and resort islands, just one month after launching the services on a commercial basis. The company, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ooredoo Kuwait, inaugurated the LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) service on around 40 islands last month, following the launch of its 1,100km domestic submarine cable system, before expanding the wireless network to an additional 100 inhabited and resort islands at the start of this year. Ooredoo says that 4G+ LTE-A customers are able to experience download speeds of up to 75Mbps, compared to 30Mbps available over its 4G LTE network.
