ACMA invites applications for 700MHz auction

16 Jan 2017

Telecom sector regulator the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has published its applicant information package (AIP) for the upcoming auction of previously unsold 700MHz lots. Up for sale are two reconfigured lots left over from the 2013 auction, the first one comprising 2×10MHz (738MHz-748MHz/793MHz-803MHz), with a reserve price of AUD571.814 million (USD428.718 million), whilst the second consists of 2×5MHz (733MHz-738MHz/788MHz-793MHz) and has a minimum price tag of AUD285.907 million. The concessions are valid from 1 April 2017 to 31 December 2029, the early expiry date set to align them with the 700MHz licences that have already been issued. Potential bidders have until 13 February to submit their applications, whilst the auction is expected to begin on 4 April.
