Another sale attempt for Telekom Slovenije?

12 Jan 2017

The Slovenian government is considering another attempt at privatising incumbent fixed and mobile operator Telekom Slovenije. Telecompaper cites a report from Delo which says a study is being carried out over the next few months to examine the potential for a sale of the state’s majority interest in the telco. The Republic of Slovenia directly owns a 62.54% stake in Telekom Slovenije, while another 9.84% is shared between state investment funds Slovenia Sovereign Holding (SDH, 4.25%) and Kapitalska druzba (KAD, 5.59%). Several attempts at privatising the operator have been made, with the most recent collapsing in August 2015 when private equity firm Cinven walked away from a deal at the eleventh hour.
