Hong Kong’s i-Cable could be up for sale

9 Jan 2017

Hong Kong property and industrial group Wharf Holdings has confirmed that it is considering a sale of its cableco subsidiary i-Cable Communications. According to a report from The Standard, Wharf has carried out a strategic review, and a disposal of i-Cable is now on the cards. In June last year Wharf sold its business-focussed ISP division Wharf T&T to MBK Partners and TPG Capital for HKD9.5 billion (USD1.22 billion). TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that i-Cable had 195,000 broadband internet customers and 950,000 pay-TV subscribers at end-September 2016.
