TTCL, Avanti Communications ink contract to deploy national broadband coverage

Avanti Communications, which specialises in high throughput satellite data communications in EMEA, has signed a new contract with Tanzania’s incumbent national telecoms operator Tanzania Telecommunication Company Ltd (TTCL) to provide national broadband coverage via its Avanti HYLAS 2 satellite. Under the deal, the satellite services provider says it will help extend TTCL’s high speed broadband coverage to customers living outside the reach of the telco’s fibre infrastructure. The HYLAS 2 satellite is capable of delivering 100% coverage of Tanzania, allowing TTCL to supply a new satellite broadband offering to its consumer, enterprise and government customer base ‘imminently’.
