Telenet agrees EUR400m acquisition of Altice's Belgian, Luxembourgian units

22 Dec 2016

Telenet has agreed to buy cableco Coditel Brabant (operating under the SFR banner) from multinational telecoms group Altice on a cash and debt free basis. The EUR400 million (USD416.5 million) deal will see Telenet extend its cable footprint beyond its current Brussels and Flemish territories to cover parts of Wallonia and also neighbouring Luxembourg. The new agreement will also see Telenet increase coverage to two thirds of the Brussels region.

The development follows Telenet’s acquisition of Belgian wireless operator BASE in February 2016, as the telco continues to implement its expansion plans. The transaction between Telenet and Altice is subject to regulatory approval by the Belgian authorities.
