State to divest entire stake in FPT Telecom next year

Vietnam’s State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC), which representing state capital interests in a number of enterprises, is expected to divest its entire 50.16% stake in FPT Telecom, one of the country’s largest fixed broadband operators, in early 2017. Local news source Dan Tri cites Ministry of Finance official Dang Quyet Tien as saying that the move is part of the SCIC’s efforts to withdraw capital from several major enterprises next year. FPT Telecom’s second largest shareholder is listed telecoms and software company FPT Corporation, which holds a 45.64% stake in the operator, while ‘other shareholders’ own 4.18% and treasure shares account for the remaining 0.02%.
