Claro Puerto Rico has announced that its LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network has been extended to eleven new municipalities across the island, namely: Yabucoa, Guanica, Ciales, San German, Dorado, Coamo, Cabo Rojo, Arecibo, Barceloneta, Aguadilla and Lares. A total of 15 towns and cities have received coverage as a result of the rollout. Going forward, Claro expects to offer nationwide LTE-A coverage by the end of 2017.
As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, Claro’s 100Mbps LTE-A network was switched on in November this year, covering a total of 30 municipalities at launch. It is believed that the new network aggregates spectrum in the 700MHz and 2100MHz/1700MHz AWS bands.
