UMS extends 3G network in Namangan and Ferghana

Uzbekistan state-owned mobile provider Universal Mobile Systems (UMS) has boosted the coverage of its 3G platform with the deployment of 56 new base stations in Namangan and Ferghana, UzDaily writes. The cellco has rolled out 20 base transceiver stations (BTS) in the Namangan region, whilst a further 36 were installed throughout the Ferghana region, bolstering service in the cities of Qoqand, Margilan, Ferghana and the Yazyavan district. The operator’s technical director, Olga Filatova was quoted as saying that UMS would continue to invest in expanding its 3G network capacity through the remainder of 2016 and into 2017.
