AINMT secures additional 450MHz spectrum in Philippines

21 Nov 2016

Broadband Everywhere (BE), AINMT Holdings’ subsidiary in the Philippines, has secured additional nationwide spectrum in the 450MHz band. The holdings firm confirmed that BE has been informed by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) that it has secured the exclusive right to use 10MHz in the 450MHz frequency band. Earlier this year AINMT increased its shareholding in BE, and says that successfully securing the full 2×5MHz (compliant with 3GPP standard) will lead to improved utilisation of the network and better economics. ‘BE is now in a great position to build a profitable 4G network that provides wireless internet access for business and residential customers as well as the M2M/IoT market. BE’s aim is to become the leading 4G coverage network in the Philippines,’ AINMT’s CEO JD Fouchard said.

TeleGeography notes that the AINMT group operates 4G LTE 450MHz services across Sweden, Norway and Denmark under the Net 1 and ice.net brands, and also owns Indonesian 450MHz wireless operator Sampoerna Telekomunikasi Indonesia (STI).
