According to the Nicaraguan Institute of Telecommunications (Telcor), a 3,500km fibre-optic broadband network will be installed across Nicaragua within the next two years, reports El Nuevo Diario. The rollout is part of a broader plan to provide fast internet service to all areas and communities across the country. Vice-President of Nicaragua, Moises Omar Halleslevens said that all regions and areas of the country will be covered by the project, including less populated municipalities.

The nationwide project, which is being sponsored by both South Korea and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), is valued at USD100 million.
