TDS acquires InterLinx and Tonaquint Networks

17 Nov 2016

TDS Broadband Service, a subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems operated by TDS Telecom (TDS), has signed a purchase agreement for InterLinx Communications and its subsidiary Tonaquint Networks in Southern Utah. The agreement includes over 170 miles of fibre-optic transport network. InterLinx, which was founded in 2003, provides wholesale fibre connections to businesses, as well as to local ISPs and large carriers. Tonaquint Networks provides residential and business services via both fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) and wireless internet technologies. Terms of the agreement will not be disclosed. The deal is pending regulatory approval at both federal and local levels.

Dave Wittwer, president and CEO of TDS Telecom, commented: ‘InterLinx built a strong communications company and worked hard to expand broadband capacity in southern Utah. When we merge our newly improved network with their system assets and capabilities it will mean great things for the entire state – faster connections and greater economic development potential.’
