Indonesian national infrastructure service provider FiberStar has selected equipment manufacturer Nokia to deploy state-of-the-art Internet Protocol Multiprotocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS) Metro Ethernet networks in 48 cities across the islands of Java and Bali. FiberStar is looking to address growing demand for advanced services in the country and will use Nokia’s IP/MPLS technology to offer triple-play services to its customers, opening new revenue streams in the process. Under the deal, the vendor will supply FiberStar products from its 7750 Service Router (SR) family, which it says will pave the way for leveraging future Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) services.
