O2 Slovakia extends LTE network to 15 more locations

O2 Slovakia, the country’s third largest wireless provider by subscribers, has extended its 4G technology to a further 15 new towns and villages via its second phase of LTE deployment. As a result of the latest expansion, the company now offers customers theoretical maximum download speeds of 73Mbps and promises actual downlink/uplink connection rates of up to 25Mbps/15Mbps.

Network Director of O2 Slovakia, Juraj Elias said that by the end of 2016 the company aims to bring LTE signal to 66% of Slovakia’s population, and expects this figure to continue to rise into 2017. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, O2 Slovakia launched its 4G network in December 2014, passing 25% population coverage a year later.
