Vodafone Italy launches gigabit services

After introducing its first 1Gbps fibre-optic services for business users in eight industrial districts earlier this month, Vodafone Italy has now launched gigabit connections for private subscribers in Milan, Bologna and Turin. Services are being marketed under the brand ‘IperFibra’. Vodafone’s previous fastest internet connection was 500Mbps. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Vodafone Italy has witnessed strong subscriber uptake in the fixed sector, claiming around 13.3% of all broadband customers at the end of June 2016 with a user base of almost 2.02 million, up from 1.85 million twelve months earlier.
