South African ISP Afrihost has launched its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) products over the open-access fibre infrastructure of Vumatel, TT Connect and Telkom’s Openserve. The FTTH services are currently available in Johannesburg and Cape Town (Vumatel), Gauteng province (TT Connect) and Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN), Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Free State, Mpumalanga and Limpopo (Openserve), though the company is planning to expand the footprint in the coming weeks and months, in order to ‘to ensure the largest fibre footprint possible.’ The service provider offers a number of unlimited packages – Home, Premium and Business – ranging in downlink/uplink speeds from 4Mbps/1Mbps (ZAR499, USD35) to 1Gbps/100Mbps (ZAR49,999).
