IPLAN launches FTTH in selected Buenos Aires neighbourhoods

4 Oct 2016

IPLAN, a Buenos Aires-based data centre/cloud computing firm, has launched a new fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in selected areas of capital city Buenos Aires. From launch the network will be available in Retiro, Recoleta, Palermo and Belgrano, but the telco plans to deploy the service across the remainder of the Ciudad Autonoma de Buenos Aires (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires) in due course. According to La Nacion, the network has been built using GPON technology and is capable of delivering downlink transmission speeds of up to 500Mbps. Going forward, IPLAN seeks to cover one-third of the population within three years, and intends to invest ARS1 billion (USD65.3 million) in the deployment of its fibre networks.
