Argentinian cableco Cablevision has selected US vendor Cisco to deploy its cBR-8 Converged Broadband Access Platform, in a bid to achieve higher density and capacity for its broadband network. The deployment will enable the cableco to support DOCSIS 3.1 capabilities and offer Gigabit or multi-Gigabit services to its subscriber base. Gabriel Carro, Cablevision Argentina’s engineering manager, commented: ‘With this explosion of IP and video traffic, we want to continue to invest in building a more reliable network for our customers to support this growth and to offer quality experiences.’

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Grupo Clarin-backed Cablevision is Argentina’s largest broadband operator in terms of subscribers, with 2.097 million HFC cable users at 30 June 2016, equivalent to a 30.9% market share.
