CenturyLink claims ‘largest G.fast deployment in North America’

13 Sep 2016

US fixed line service provider CenturyLink has announced that it has installed G.fast technology in Platteville, Wisconsin, resulting in ‘the largest G.fast deployment in North America’ to date. The platform leverages existing copper and internal coaxial cable infrastructure, the telco notes, and utilises the ‘AXOS’ G.fast solution, courtesy of US-based vendor Calix. Despite the bold claim, the specifics are less impressive: a company press release confirms that CenturyLink has installed G.fast technology in 44 multi-dwelling units (MDUs) serving around 800 apartments in Platteville.
