AT&T Mexico LTE footprint passes 100-city milestone

9 Sep 2016

AT&T Mexico now claims LTE network coverage of a total of 111 markets, up from the 42 cities announced in April this year. The US telco, which acquired local operators Iusacell and Nextel Mexico last year, initially activated its 4G network in six cities in October 2015. New cities covered by AT&T’s 4G infrastructure in the last six months include: Acapulco, Chetumal, Durango, Juarez, Nogales, Rio Bravo, Tecate, Tijuana and Valladolid.

Going forward, AT&T expects to cover 75 million people, nearly two-thirds of the Mexican population, by the end of 2016, and 100 million people by the end of 2018.
