Airtel upgrades 9,000 sites under Open Network initiative

25 Aug 2016

Bharti Airtel, India’s largest mobile provider by subscribers, has upgraded over 9,000 of its network sites and optimised more than 30,000 as part of its ‘Open Network’ initiative. Under the programme, Airtel received feedback from customers – through its Open Network portal, the myAirtel app, and Airtel call centres and stores – and based on those comments and suggestions improved its network in certain locations. The cellco also received ‘thousands of leads’ for the potential installation of new sites through the programme.

Commenting on the initiative, Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal said: ‘We would like to express our gratitude to our customers for sharing their valuable feedback and supporting the Open Network initiative. We believe that with this initiative, we have made a small but positive beginning towards improving our network.’
