Lifecell, Huawei claim 1.5Gbps LTE-A Pro test

12 Aug 2016

Ukrainian mobile operator Lifecell has announced the results of an LTE-Advanced Pro (LTE-A Pro) test with China’s Huawei, with the partners claiming a peak download speed of 1.5Gbps via aggregating five 20MHz FDD spectrum blocks in the 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz and 2600MHz bands using Lifecell’s commercial network equipment and 4×4 multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) and 256QAM technology provided by Huawei. The speed was measured on a connection between an eNodeB base station and a mobile terminal under test conditions. Ukrainian operators are still awaiting 4G licensing to be implemented, but are aiming to be technically ready to launch LTE as soon as concessions are issued. Lifecell’s larger rival MTS Ukraine (Vodafone) recently announced a successful LTE test with Nokia.
