Tele2 Group takes Nokia’s Cloud Packet Core solution

26 Jul 2016

Nokia has signed a deal with Stockholm-based Tele2 Group to provide the telco with its Cloud Packet Core solution to help deliver mobile broadband services. The rollout will initially cover Tele2’s networks in Croatia before moving to Sweden, the Baltic states, Austria, the Netherlands and Kazakhstan. The vendor claims the flexible solution will enable Tele2 to meet existing demand for mobile broadband while also preparing its networks for the evolution to 5G technology. Nokia says its Cloud Packet Core solution will allow Tele2 to adopt an automated cloud networking and service operations model by providing resources whenever and wherever they are needed. The solution consists of the Cloud Mobility Manager and Cloud Mobile Gateway running on an open OpenStack Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) infrastructure and bundled with Nokia’s professional services.
