Poland launches pre-paid SIM registration

25 Jul 2016

Poland’s Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) has begun its pre-paid SIM card registration scheme, meaning that from today (25 July) all new users of pre-paid mobile services must register their details before their service is activated. In addition, existing pre-paid SIM cards purchased before 25 July must be registered before 1 February 2017 or the user will face having the service cut off. Poland was home to some 53.4 million mobile users at the end of March 2016, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, with Orange, P4, T-Mobile and Polkomtel being the four main network operators.
